Professional experience

Dr Messinis is Adjunct Fellow at the Victoria Institute of Strategic Economic Studies (VISES). He was previously Senior Research Fellow to August 2017. He has published on consumer behaviour, education, labour economics, innovation, migration, and economic development. Dr Messinis has taught in undergraduate, Honours, MBA, and DBA courses and has supervised post-graduate students, and is currently TNE Unit coordinator for Malaysia and China within the VU Business School. He is available for post-graduate supervision.

Dr Messinis has led research teams that have made significant contributions to Victoria University and its engagement with industry and the research community. Since 2005, he has managed the SEEK Employment Indicators project in a partnership with SEEK Pty Ltd. Dr Messinis has also led VISES research teams that mapped the VU student population and explored the role of diversity and low socio-economic status in VU student performance.

Dr Messinis is currently undertaking new research on: (a) Education and Productivity; (b) Market Power and Inequality; and (c) the Causes of Real Wage Freeze in Australia.
